5 Things You Should Know About Hibiscus Tea
Hello My People!!!
I must admit, I have fallen in love with this ruby red, tart, fruity, serving you some real cranberry like flavor, super food goodness of a tea called hibiscus. Over a year or so ago my sister-in-love hipped me to this wonderful tea. There are really some wonderful life moments where you can look back and pin point the people and situations that change your life and the day my sister-in-love Kim told me about Hibiscus tea was definitely one of those.
So of course being the researcher that I am and on top of that the fact that I like to bring my people some real info and benefits that hopefully inspires change, I had to investigate. I found that there are many benefits to adding hibiscus to your regular wellness routine. Some major benefits I found was its cancer fighting ability and that it is a blood sugar regulator!!! As I sat and drank me a nice big mug of warm hibiscus tea with grade B maple syrup I looked further into the benefits and became intrigued with 5 specific benefits that I would have to personally say includes a total body wellness solution in a mug or glass…depending on how you decide to partake in this superfood/drink.
One benefit is the fact that it supports proper Liver Function, because of the amazing amount of antioxidants in hibiscus it is a great tea to drink in order to protect your liver. Your liver is an eliminative organ so having that boost of antioxidants which neutralizes free radicals in your system helps you on a cellular level as well as helps to maintain and heal body tissue
Another benefit that any one who deals with internal or external pain due to inflammation would appreciate is the fact that it is Rich in Anti-inflammatory properties, the vitamin C levels found in Hibiscus are another key factor because of how essential vitamin c is to the body. With hibiscus tea you can stimulate your immune system so that it can help ward off any sickness such as cold or flu viruses and even fever especially if you drink it cold.
Now for my women who can relate to the imbalance and s*** we deal with on a “monthly” basis, which by the way, is truly unnecessary on a holistic level. However many females still deal with it, until hopefully now and that would be because hibiscus tea can help with Menstrual Pain Relief. If you’re cramping or experiencing any form of discomfort, drinking hibiscus tea can definitely help with that. It also helps to balance hormones which some may be aware of the fact that when your hormones are off it can create mood swings, depression symptoms and even over eating and hibiscus tea can help curb all of those symptoms
Now, I am a big advocate for colon health as a matter of fact that was one of the main wellness topics I started with early in my wellness journey, which is helping people understand that life and death begins in the colon. One of the key aspects of your overall health is the need for your body to properly digest your food in order to gain the nutrients within the food and eliminate the crap your body doesn’t need. So by consuming hibiscus tea it is helping to Improve your Digestion Due to the diuretic properties in Hibiscus tea it can help regulate the bowels and reduce or eliminate constipation. This is also a reason why many people may find it helpful to lose weight. Your gastrointestinal system can definitely improve as well
Ok, I touched on this briefly within the last benefit however I hope you are hearing me when I say it can be a great Weight Loss Agent! But please know this is not a quick weight loss solution however, Hibiscus can inhibit the production of amylase so that your body does not absorb too much starch and carbs which means it can reduce excess glucose and this function can help you to lose weight. That may not sound spectacular to some but that is only a snap shot of how it can enhance weight loss on top of the improved digestion. We are talking about a healthy solution or addition to an overall scheme of wellness here.
How can you incorporate hibiscus tea RIGHT NOW!! Well, depending on where you live you can possibly find it in your tea section at any health food store. I personally like to go to international food stores because they normally sell the dried flowers in bag bundles with nothing else added to them.
I’ve included a link that you can feel free to check out just in case you can’t find hibiscus tea in your area.

I would recommend drinking the tea prior the eating or even after eating a meal so that the benefits of this beautiful ruby red tea can be enhanced and taken advantage of. Now of course you can consume the tea while you are eating or just relaxing, it’s totally your choice. I recommend drinking it before simply because it can start working to block the amylase prior to any starch or carb intake.
You can drink it cold or hot and if you are experiencing inflammation internally consuming hibiscus as needed (even cold) will aid in your healing.
Lastly, I must say that I absolutely love this tea and although it has a bit of a tart tasters it, simply adding a little honey or grade b maple syrup to it makes it one of the best natural tea drinks I like to indulge in at anytime and my skin and body thanks me for it!
Now go and add hibiscus tea to your shopping list so that you can be a recipient to this refreshing superfood/drink!
Oh Side note, hormone imbalance is real and it can lead to depression so I want to reiterate that hibiscus can help balance your hormones which can be a great help as an anti-depressant. Drink a nice warm mug of hibiscus tea and relax…your mental health with thank YOU later.
That’s all for now my people, until next time
